Tall, dark and handsome took on a whole new creepy concept in London today, with any romantic notions of Mr Darcy blown out of the water.

A 3.7 metre fibreglass monstrosity emerged from Hyde Park's Serpentine Lake, recreating Colin Firth's famous turn in the dripping white shirt from Pride and Prejudice.

His overwhelming presence didn't seem to freak out too many of the swans or locals.

The statue was put there to promote a new TV channel dedicated to British drama.
