An Australian dad, frustrated by his son's lack of success in finding a job, has offered a year's worth of free beer to any employer willing to take him on.

Paul McVeigh told the Mackay Daily Mercury he's fielded many calls about the beer, but had no genuine job offers.

“It's become a bit of a nightmare, really,” he told the paper.

“I've had loads of calls, foreign breweries wanting to sponsor the offer and stuff, but no real job offers. I'm beginning to regret placing the ad in the first place.”

His 19-year-old son Nick is trying to get an apprenticeship as an electrician, but despite sending out "hundreds" of applications, hasn't had any luck.

“People spend hundreds of thousands on getting a university degree and this just seemed like an investment,” says McVeigh. “I can't see why some people are so upset.”
