A rebel rocket on a hospital in a government-held area of the Syrian city of Aleppo has caused multiple casualties, according to reports.

Both the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights and state-run Syrian news channel Ikhbariya said the rebel strike killed and injured dozens of people, although the figures vary in other media reports.

Last week, another hospital in Aleppo was targeted by an airstrike, believed to be carried out by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's regime.

Aleppo is one of Syria's largest cities and it remains locked in vicious combat, with different parts of the city held by various groups engaging in the civil war.

The Islamist al-Nusra Front, which says it does not observe the US- and Russia-negotiated ceasefire, is accused of staging attacks on both government forces and rebel groups to derail the truce.
