Dresden, in Germany, has kicked off the Christmas season with its traditional celebration - baking a 2.8 tonne fruitcake for its Stollenfest.
During the festival, a giant cake is transported in a horse-drawn carriage through the streets, before being sliced into thousands of pieces while the fruitcake princess watches on.
Stollenfest began in 1730, when a local ruler decided to display his wealth and power by inviting people of Europe to Dresden for a celebration, which culminated in the unveiling of the world's largest fruitcake.
The tradition has continued over the centuries - and if this year's cake is any guide, the bakers' skills have only improved.
