Another royal baby is on the way as Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge has gone into labour.

The British royal was driven from her London residence, Kensington Palace, to the Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital in the UK capital at around 6am local time, officials have confirmed. She was accompanied by her husband, Prince William.

A spokesperson took to Twitter.com to share the news, writing, "HRH The Duchess of Cambridge has been admitted to St Mary's Hospital in the early stages of labour. Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was admitted at 06.00hrs to St. Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, London and is in the early stages of labour."

The baby is around a week overdue and royal fans have been camped outside the hospital since last week in anticipation of the new arrival.

The baby will be the second for the royal couple, who became parents to Prince George in July, 2013.

It has been a big week for William and Catherine, who celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary on Wednesday.
