An American politician with a history of sexting scandals has added another to his list - though this time, he's alleged to have knowingly sent raunchy messages to an underage schoolgirl.

The Daily Mail reports that former congressman Anthony Weiner - who is 36 years older than the girl - sent sexual messages and shirtless photos to her over the course of several months.

The girl and her father both claim Mr Weiner knew she was only 15-years-old, and provided the online tabloid with a collection of online chats to prove it.

The Daily Mail approached Mr Weiner for comment, and he sent back a statement - but wouldn't deny any of the allegations the girl made against him.

"I have repeatedly demonstrated terrible judgement about the people I have communicated with online and the things I have sent," he said.

"I am filled with regret and heartbroken for those I have hurt."

In one of the chats - which she provided photos of and is too graphic to publish in its entirety - the 51-year-old tells her he wants to make her "leak and limp for a week".

In other messages, he compliments her body and refers to her as "baby".

Mr Weiner married Hillary Clinton's aide Huma Abedin in 2010, but she filed for divorce following sexting allegations that emerged late last month.

This is Mr Weiner's third sexting scandal since the pair wed.
