The parents of a seven-year-old boy who's been missing for two days in Japan have confessed to abandoning him in the mountains as a punishment.
They first said Yamato Tanooka got lost while out on a family walk, but now admit they left him alone in Nanae, Hokkaido -- an island in northern Japan known for its population of ferocious wild bears.
A search party of over 150 are now hunting for Tanooka.
The boy's 44-year-old father told police they left him as a punishment for throwing stones at cars, but when they went back he was gone.
Mr Tanooka told a reporter he was afraid to admit the truth when he asked for a search.
