Hiroshima city wants Pokéstop off memorial

Authorities in Japan have asked Pokémon Go creators to remove Hiroshima's Peace Memorial Park as a location for one of the game's gyms where virtual characters do battle.

Hiroshima city made the request after Pokémon Go players started capturing the characters at the park, which commemorates victims of the bombings.

It's asked the game's developers to take action before August 6 - the 71st anniversary of the 1945 atomic bombings which killed more than a 100,000 people.

Nintendo's augmented reality game has become a worldwide hit with over 75 million downloads.

Previously an organisation in Bosnia has had to issue an alert reminding Pokémon Go players not to wander into minefields.
