About a thousand people have protested at Hong Kong International Airport over the handling of luggage for the chief executive's daughter.

Hong Kong's chief executive Leung Chun-ying is said to have asked airport staff to ignore aviation rules for his daughter, who was able to avoid checking in her luggage.

She avoided the bag being checked through security, angering an airline cabin crew union which organised the protest.

For nearly three hours protesters shouted in the arrivals hall and some minor scuffles broke out.
