Police in Manchester say they will begin recording attacks against members of alternative subcultures such as goths in the same way they do attacks based on race, religion and disability
The decision follows the death of Sophie Lancaster, a 20-year-old who was attacked in a park in 2007 because of her gothic appearance.
Greater Manchester police say the change would enable officers to give more support to the victims of anti-punk or anti-goth crime.
