Runaway 'zebra' at Tokyo zoo

A zebra escaped from its enclosure in Tokyo's Ueno Zoo, giving one keeper a heart attack and injuring another.

Thankfully though, it was just a drill and the zebra was a zoo staff member dressed up in a furry suit.

Onlookers took photographs as the zebra tore down netted fences and pushed over a zookeeper, before being enclosed by nets and 'sedated'.

Zookeepers said the exercise gave them fresh insight into how to treat an escaping animal.

The zoo has seen escaped animals in the past, including a panther, elephants and, more recently, monkeys.
