Two people have been shot and reportedly killed in Rarotonga after a prisoner escaped.
Police say they are still looking for Chris Rimamotu of Titikaveka and warn he is armed and considered very dangerous.
"We urge members of the public not to approach this person if located," police said in a statement.
Anyone in Rarotonga with information on Rimamotu's whereabouts is asked to call police on 999.
Facebook users in Rarotonga say they were notified of the news via text, with people urged to pass on the message.
Rimamotu was arrested in 2014 over the kidnapping and sexual assault of a seven-year-old girl.
