When Bev York's lawn gnome disappeared, the Vancouver Island woman assumed it was gone for good.
She didn't expect it to be taken on an international road trip and returned with a photo album of where it had been.
Leopold, with white hair, rosy cheeks, and a soccer ball at its feet, went missing late last year.
"I thought somebody stole it," Ms York told CTV News.
But it turns out the little gnome was just craving some more adventure in its life and joined in on a cross-country roadtrip.
"One morning back on December 15, I saw a motorhome along Finlayson Arm Road and I thought to myself, there's got to be more to life than standing here knee-deep in rainwater being peed on by the neighbourhood dogs and staring at the same view every single day," a note in the photo album read.
And the photos show Leopold went on quite an adventure, journeying through Canada, to the US, and even into Mexico before returning home.
He's also seen cosying up to a toddler in a few shots, but Ms York says she has no idea who the child is or who's behind the prank.
After a few margaritas, also pictured, Leopold came home a bit worse for the wear, but it didn't bother Ms York.
Instead she's just glad there's a spot of brightness in the world.
"I think it's very sweet that they went to all that trouble and made that beautiful book," Ms York told CTV News.
"It's nice to bring sunshine into somebody's day."
