A Sydney doctor has been found guilty of murder after injecting his wife of 19 years with insulin.
Brian Kenneth Crickitt killed his wife Christine Crickitt, 58, by injecting her in the buttock with a lethal dose of fast-acting insulin.
He knew the insulin wouldn't be detected by the time an autopsy was carried out.
The court heard Dr Crickitt was motivated to murder his wife to be with his mistress and to claim half a million dollars in an insurance payout.
Christine's eldest daughter from a previous marriage, Tracey Wiggins, told media outside the NSW Supreme Court she was "thankful the outcome had protected the community" from the GP.
She said the pain her family had endured since her mother's death was "beyond words".
"The impact it has on [our] life … The sadness never goes away" she said.
Dr Crickitt, who has been on bail for four years, is now behind bars and will be sentenced next year.
