St James’ Palace says Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, is "continuing to feel better" after she was admitted to a private hospital in London yesterday suffering from acute morning sickness.

Her husband, Prince William, spent much of the day at her bedside.

The palace announced the couple’s pregnancy after Kate was admitted to hospital and says she is not yet at the 12-week mark.

The announcement of the impending birth of the third in line to the throne sparked a media frenzy and drew congratulations from world leaders.

St James’ Palace says the couple is “immensely grateful” for all the good wishes they have received.

Betting agencies in the United Kingdom immediately began cashing in on the pregnancy.

Punters in Britain have a range of possible wagers from betting agencies William Hill, Ladbrokes and Paddy Power. Odds as of Tuesday evening:

AND ONE FINAL THOUGHT:

"Everybody has got a chance to experience it in their own way, right down to the fact of betting on the names - is it going to be Frances or James or Baby Gaga?" said royal historian Robert Lacey.
