Firefighters in Australia are continuing to battle blazes across three states.
It's been the worst bushfire season Australia has experienced in decades, with hundreds of thousands of hectares of land being scorched and dozens of homes burning to the ground.
Also across the ditch, Prime Minister Julia Gillard hass ruffled a few feathers by backing Nova Peris to be the first indigenous woman in Federal Parliament, and an advertisement promoting Dick Smith food products has caused a bit of a stir.
