United States Vice President-elect Mike Pence has been sent a clear message from his Washington neighbours who disagree with his homophobic views, after they hung rainbow flags outside their homes.
Ilse Heintzen is one of the residents on the street where Mr Pence is staying while he waits to move into the Vice President's mansion at the Naval Observatory.
After learning Mr Pence had moved into the neighbourhood, she and some of her neighbours decided to take a stand against him by hanging the colourful rainbow flags outside their houses.
"A respectful message showing, in my case, my disagreement with some of his thinking," she told US news outlet WJLA.
Neighbours from around the area have joined in the protest, with reports of about a dozen rainbow flags flying around the block, and more said to be coming.
Mr Pence has previously made clear his stance on homosexuality. He's called being gay a "choice", and has said keeping gays from marrying was not discrimination, but "God's idea".
In 2002 he wrote "Congress should oppose any effort to put gay and lesbian relationships on an equal legal status with heterosexual marriage".
Three years later he signed the Federal Marriage Agreement that worked to officially define marriage to be between one man and one woman.
