Reporting on natural disasters can be a sad and sobering experience, but in Texas there was a moment of lightness when a journalist saw a dog sitting on a ride-on mower among debris.
Andrea Martinez, a reporter on KYTX CBS19, was assessing the severe destruction caused by a tornado in Malakoff when her keen eye spotted something in the distance.
It was a yellow labrador sitting with its front paws on the steering wheel of the lawnmower, its hindquarters resting in the seat.
"Oh my god, come see. Look at that dog," she laughs to her colleagues.
The dog looks in their direction before turning its head back, seemingly focused on what's ahead.
