A fierce Cyclone has struck Samoa overnight, causing widespread flooding and power outages.
Three people are reported dead – including two children – and residents are being told to move to higher ground.
Winds of 160kmph and a four metre-high storm surge hit the capital of Apia yesterday, and forecasters are predicting a second surge from the storm this morning
New Zealand High Commissioner for Samoa Nick Hurley told media that low-lying areas of Apia had suffered “immense damage”.
