An Australian woman is lucky to be alive after plummeting into a river full of crocodiles when her bungee jump ended in disaster.

Erin Langworthy, 22, hit the waters of the Zambesi River when the rope snapped during her 300-foot jump on New Year's Eve.

She made the jump off the Victoria Falls Bridge - a colonial-era iron bridge spanning the Zambezi River. It is within sight of Victoria Falls and the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe.

After surviving the fall, she had to swim through swirling rapids with her feet still tied by the rope.

"I felt liked I had been slapped all over," Ms. Langworthy told Australia's Channel 9.

"All the water I inhaled meant I couldn't breathe and I made them roll me on to my side and that's when I started coughing up water and blood," she told Channel 9.

Aside from scrapes and bruises along her back and arms, she escaped unharmed.
