A Single Man is the assured debut from well-known fashionista turned filmmaker Tom Ford, and while I always expected the film to be easy on the eye I hadn’t expected it to be so incredibly moving.

Colin Firth was Oscar-nominated for his performance as a gay grief-stricken college professor who decides he can no longer live with the loss of the love of his life.

And Firth is just one reason to see this film.

Four and half stars.
