With a title like this, I had expected a bog-standard cross-cultural rom-com, which Every Jack has a Jill certainly isn’t.
Jack (Justin Bartha) is a bit of a loser, who wins a trip to Paris. His suitcase gets accidentally picked up by Chloe (Melanie Laurent) who goes through his things, deciding he’s the man for her.
It poses questions like: do our “things” define us? If we like the same films or books, are we the perfect match?
It’s a cool idea, and there were a couple of fresh moments, but unfortunately those moments just don't amount to much as a whole.
The pair lacked chemistry both as characters and as actors, which certainly didn’t help.
Two and a half stars.
