Farrier meets The Inbetweeners

The Inbetweeners was one of the best TV comedies in of 2008.

The film followed four teenagers as they attempted to come to terms with growing up in a tiny British town.

Teachers, girls, school, parents - each was treated with a combination of fear and utter disrespect by the foursome. And it was wonderful.

It worked because as a viewer, you could easily identify with at least one of them. Or aspects of them.

For me, it was "briefcase wanker" Will McKenzie, a well-spoken nerd attempting to navigate high school. Then there was the misogynistic, sexually driven Jay, grumpy Simon (and his love of hair gel) and dead-stupid Neil.

What the show captured so perfectly was the utter hopelessness you feel as you enter your final years of high school. With your entire life ahead of you, you have no clue about what you're meant to be doing. Or how. Or with who.

The series wrapped up in 2010, leaving its fans satisfied and happy. We waved goodbye to Will, Jay, Simon and Neil.

Then came the movie. It was 2011, and we probably didn't need it. But we got it anyway. It was vulgar and too long… but made loads of money.

Now we have movie number two, which sees the boys going on an OE to Australia.

It feels like a final hurrah from the cast - who have somehow managed to escape aging since the TV show started 6 years ago.

In the UK, such is the love for these boys the film outgrossed the opening weekend of The Expendables 2.

Now The Inbetweeners 2 has made its way to New Zealand.

I sat down with Will (Simon Bird), Simon (Joe Thomas) and the show's co-creator Iain Morris to talk about The Inbetweeners' inability to die.
