Iron Man review

Marvel comic to the big screen, Iron Man is here.

The first big hitter of the US blockbuster season, Iron Man has two of Hollywood's coolest cats, Robert Downey Jnr and The Dude himself, Jeff Bridges.

Downey Jnr plays Tony Stark, the gazillionaire owner of America's biggest weapons company who thinks having the biggest gun keeps the peace.

Until he has one of them pointed at him.

Time for some soul-searching, a good-sized welder, and some CGI - and there we have it: Iron Man.

It's not hard to see Iron Man kicking kiwi box office butt, and while this movie is certainly targeted more at the blokes, with Robert Downey Jnr in the lead role girls - I promise you won't mind heading along for the ride.

He brings a irreverent cool to the man-who-will-be-a-superhero genre and there are some funny moments courtesy of the script and his delivery.

The rest of the cast isn't too bad either - loving Jeff Bridges.

Iron Man is not a classic, suffering a little from first-in-the-franchise set-up blues. And of course, this is a comic-book superhero movie after all, so remember not to take it too seriously.

Winter's on its way and the weekend's here, an easy 3 stars from me.
