Sherlock Holmes review

Sherlock Holmes, courtesy of Guy Ritchie and his effective coupling of Robert Downey Jnr and Jude Law, is back on the big screen. This film is action-packed to the gunnels, and determined to knock Tintin off his number one box office perch.

The pair is once again determined to foil the nefarious plans of the dastardly Professor Moriarty, and he is as equally determined to off them both. This latest chapter unfolds with gunfights, explosions and repartee a-plenty.

As with Guy Ritchie's first Sherlock, I was left entirely underwhelmed.

I admit the challenge was heightened this time round by my love of the far more enthralling BBC TV version of Sherlock, but even that aside, the contrived nature of this story and in particular its delivery just left me cold, and more than a little bored.

Two stars.
