There are questions about whether a Greenpeace time-lapse video featuring a photobomb from an inquisitive marmot was a set up.
Greenpeace says it put a GoPro camera in Montana's Glacier National Park to shoot video for a campaign on the effect of climate change on glaciers. But it got something else entirely.
The furry mammal is seen coming right up to the camera and licking it.
The cute video has had more than 1.5 million views on YouTube, leading to suspicion it might have been planned. Greenpeace is denying it was, but has found a way to use the clip anyway.
"Though we didn't capture the time-lapse video of Glacier National Park that we intended to, we captured something much cooler – marmot love," says Greenpeace's Dawn Bickett.
"This marmot took a minute out of its busy day to show us some love. It's time for us to do the same. Global warming is shrinking marmot habitat – alpine tundra. Help protect his home from climate change."
