Alethea Boon is an athlete of many talents, having represented New Zealand as a gymnast at both Kulala Lumpur 1998 and Manchester 2002, before making the transition to weightlifting.

The Fijian-born Aucklander has also made her mark in the burgeoning world of CrossFit, finishing 20th in the sport's international championship of 2015.

Now heading into her third edition of the Commonwealths, Boon will be competing in the women's under-58kg category, where she's experienced plenty of recent success.

She earned two second-place finishes at the Australian Weightlifting Open and Oceania Championships respectively in 2017, and will be looking to go one better on the Gold Coast.
