Petty will attend her second Commonwealth Games, after finishing fifth in the 800 metres final at Glasgow four years ago.

She has been the most consistent of New Zealand’s middle distance performances over the past decade and became just the second Kiwi under 2 minutes for the two-lap event, when she won the 2015 World University Games title.

Petty has now won seven national titles over 800 metres and four over 1500 metres, where her personal best stands at 4m 07.83s.
