While today looms as a quiet medal day for Kiwis on the Gold Coast, it's 'moving day' for many with podium aspirations - most critically the Silver Ferns.

The netball women lost for the first time ever to Malawi three nights ago, but can still qualify for semi-finals on points differential, even with a loss to England this morning.

After their terrible run of recent form though, they need a big result to boost their medal hopes, remembering they have never finished with less than silver at the Commonwealth Games.

The Black Sticks men face a tough match against Australia in their final pool game, but both teams have already secured semi-final spots.

Beach volleyball brothers Ben and Sam O'Dea are already into the semis, and will face Canadians Sam Pedlow and Sam Schachter for a shot at gold.

With a medal already assured, boxer Tasmyn Benny takes on Kristina O'Hara of Northern Ireland in the women's 45-48kg semi. The winner will fight for gold later in the week, the loser takes bronze.

Benny is the first of four NZ fighters with guaranteed medals.
