MAX SIRENA

Born: 1973 (48)

Role: Luna Rossa director & skipper

America's Cup campaigns: 7

The America's Cup veteran and two-time winner is entering his fifth campaign with the Italian syndicate.

Sirena won the 'Auld Mug' for the first time in 2010 with Oracle Racing in the controversial 33rd America's Cup. With only two teams competing due to all the court battles, Sirena helped the Americans to victory over Swiss holders Alinghi as a wing-mast manager.

The 48-year-old is best known to Kiwi fans for his role with Team NZ's successful victory at Bermuda 2017.

After Luna Rossa withdrew from the regatta, Sirena joined the NZ campaign in a management role and helped them regain the trophy for the first time in 14 years.

That involvement set Luna Rossa up as a natural candidate for Challengers of Record for the 2021 event in Auckland.
