Liti captured Kiwis' hearts with his big smile and victory in the super-heavyweight class at Gold Coast four years ago, setting a Games record total in the process.

The giant Tongan - born in NZ, but raised in the Pacific - was also presented the David Dixon Award for sportsmanship, after assisting Samoan silver medallist Lauititi Lui through the medal presentation in a wheelchair.

Liti finished fifth against the world's strongest men at the Tokyo Olympics, setting a new national record in the clean & jerk and equalling his best total, and won the Commonwealth championships at Tashkent in December.
