Patrick Bevin

Age: 31

Born: February 15, 1991 at Taupō

Height: 1.80m

Event: Cycling road race & time trial

Bevin looms as New Zealand's top hope in our most successful medal event over Commonwealth Games history - the cycling road race, with three gold, 10 silver and four bronze.

Since signing with the Cannondale pro team in 2016, he has raced three editions of the Tour de France, while also contesting the Giro d'Italia and Vuelta a Espana - cycling's three Grand Tours.

In 2018, he was part of the BMC Racing Team that took out the team trial third stage in France. That same year, he also shared a bronze medal at the world team time trial championships, while finishing eighth in the individual time trial.

The following year, he finished fourth in the world time trial championship and 10th at last year's Tokyo Olympics.

Bevin has won two national time trial crowns and, racing for Israel Start-Up Nation, showed his road-racing ability earlier this year, when he took general classification honours at the Tour of Turkey and captured a stage of the Tour de Romandie.
