Dickson debuted for the All Blacks Sevens in 2012, after progressing through the Canterbury rugby academy and representing New Zealand in Aussie Rules.

Birmingham will be his third Commonwealth Games, after winning silver at Glasgow 2014 and gold at Gold Coast 2018.

Dickson represented New Zealand in the ill-fated Rio Olympics campaign, where the men failed to medal, and became the sixth Kiwi to play 50 world series tournaments and has made more tackles than any other NZ player during his career.

He missed last year's Tokyo Olympics with injury, but has regained the captaincy for Birmingham.
