McIlroy will attend his fourth Commonwealth Games at Birmingham, but has yet to reach the medal podium, after reaching the singles quarter-finals at Gold Coast four years ago.
He is the reigning world singles champion, dating back to Christchurch 2016, after the 2020 edition was cancelled during the COVID-19 pandemic. Mclroy combined with Mike Kernaghan for pairs bronze at the same championships.
He also took out the 2018 World Singles Champion of Champions crown and has won four NZ national titles, including the 2016 and 2018 singles titles.
