Birmingham Commonwealth Games: Badminton

  • 01/01/2022

Badminton made its Commonwealth Games debut at Kingston 1966 and has been contested at every edition since.

While England initially dominated the sport, Malaysia took advantage of their home Games in 1998 to seize a stranglehold on the medals, although India actually emerged as the most successful nation at Gold Coast four years ago.

New Zealand has yet to win a gold medal in badminton, although we have captured 11 medals, including two silvers and a bronze to doubles specialist Sara Runesten-Peterson.
