Tarrant will captain the Black Sticks men at Birmingham in his third appearance at the Commonwealth Games.

The defender missed their silver medal performance at Gold Coast 2018, but captured bronze at Delhi and lost the bronze-medal playoff at Glasgow previously.

Since debuting in 2010, Tarrant has played more than 200 games for the NZ men, including the 2016 Rio Olympics and 2021 Tokyo Olympics, where he was also captain.

He has also pursued an extensive professional club career in Europe, currently with Germany's Hamburger Polo Club.
