Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl is convinced breaking his leg was a "blessing in disguise" for the rockers, because they have played their "best gigs ever" since he injured himself in June.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Grohl insists the band has improved its performances since his infamous stage slip in Gothenburg, Sweden, on June 12.
Grohl, whose leg is still in a cast, is performing from a throne made of guitars now the rockers are back on the road again, weeks after they had to pull out of a headline slot at Glastonbury Festival in the UK.
Speaking after a recent gig, Grohl says, "The shows we've been doing lately are our favourite shows that we've ever done. What seemed like a setback at the time has turned into this beautiful blessing in disguise, where this throne and these crutches and these audiences make us play longer and harder than we ever have. It's this whole new energy in the show... I think the spontaneity of this situation we're in right now just brings out a smile in everyone."
The former Nirvana drummer, who was ordered by doctors to rest his broken leg, said he was "high as a f**king kite" while designing his onstage throne, which he debuted at a 20th anniversary concert in Washington DC on July 4, their first gig since his injury.
Meanwhile, Grohl gave one lucky fan a birthday to remember last week after inviting him onstage to play drums during a show in Toronto, Canada.
The devotee, who had snagged front row seats to the concert, caught frontman Dave Grohl's eye by waving a sign that read, "It's My Birthday, Can I Play Drums?".
The rocker obliged and summoned the man up to Taylor Hawkins' drum kit, where the fan impressed during a rendition of 'Big Me', much to the audience's surprise.
