An annual Comic-Con 'zombie walk' set for this weekend's San Diego, California convention has been scrapped following an incident at last year's event.
Zombie fans have dressed up as the undead and hit the streets around the city's Gaslamp Quarter for the past nine Comic-Cons, but there will be no staggering and moaning this year.
The zombie walk has been put on "indefinite hiatus" due to "legal matters stemming from the vehicular incident following last year's walk".
Matthew Pocci Jr, 48, is set for trial in October on a charge of felony reckless driving causing bodily injury after he panicked and drove his car into a 64-year-old photographer after zombie revellers started banging on the vehicle.
Pocci, who is deaf, was driving with his girlfriend, her sister, and the sister's nine-year-old son when the incident occurred.
Pocci has filed a claim against city officials, asserting the San Diego Police Department did not adequately supervise the march to prevent accidents. The injured woman has filed a similar claim.
