Mark Hamill approves of Amy Schumer's risque Star Wars GQ spread

Amy Schumer posing with C-3PO and R2-D2 for GQ

Star Wars actor Mark Hamill has tweeted his apparent approval of comedienne Amy Schumer's controversial GQ photo shoot, including the cover which has her irreverently sucking robot C-3PO's finger while dressed as Princess Leia.

The Trainwreck star's provocative magazine spread has irked many Star Wars purists - in another picture she shares a post-coital cigarette with C-3PO and R2-D2, and dances with Stormtroopers in another. The photos are viewable on GQ.com.

Officials at Lucasfilm, the company behind the cult sci-fi movie, have revealed they did not "condone the inappropriate use of our characters in this manner."

However, Luke Skywalker himself appears to approve of Schumer's quirky shoot, tweeting:

The latest instalment of the sci-fi franchise, Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Force Awakens, is due to be released in December.
