Chief Keef 'to run for Chicago mayor'

Rapper Chief Keef has promised to run for office after clashing with Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel over a benefit concert the rapper organised earlier this month.

The 19-year-old planned a 'Stop The Violence' gig in his hometown on 17 July to benefit his friend and fellow rapper Capo, who was shot and killed.

Chief Keef chose to perform at the gig via hologram instead of risk returning to the Chicago area, where he has outstanding warrants for his arrest related to separate child support cases.

However, just before the show was slated to start, Emanuel's office cancelled the concert amid fears it posed a "significant public safety risk."

The rapper refused to back down and opted to stage the gig at nearby Hammond, Indiana's Craze Fest, again via hologram from Los Angeles, on Saturday.

But yet again, police shut down the event shortly after the rapper "appeared" on stage, and Keef took to Twitter on Monday, encouraging his fans to call the mayor's office and urge him to let the concert go on.
