Veteran singer Donny Osmond is preparing to undergo surgery to remove a polyp from his vocal cords.

The 'Puppy Love' hit maker, 57, recently discovered he has a hemorrhagic polyp on his right vocal cord and the star has booked in for treatment with throat specialist Dr Steven M Zeitel, his representative tells People.com.

Zeitel has previously treated stars including Adele, Lionel Richie, John May and most recently British singer Sam Smith, who underwent an operation in May.

Osmond has postponed his US solo tour dates in September, but is expected to recover in time to resume his Las Vegas residency with his sister Marie on September 29. The live act has run continuously at the Flamingo Hotel since 2008.
