Fear the Walking Dead, the Walking Dead spin-off that stars Kiwi actor Cliff Curtis, has made television history with its series premiere.
The 90-minute first episode was watched by 10.1 million people, making it the most-watched series debut in cable television history.
With 6.3 million viewers in the 18-49 demographic, it trumps AMC's previous number one Better Call Saul, which had 4.4 million adults tune in for its first episode.
AMC now holds three spots in the top five most-watched series premieres, with Walking Dead coming in fifth.
Fear the Walking Dead, which stars Kim Dickens, Frank Dillane, Ruben Blades and Curtis, is set in Los Angeles and focuses on the very beginning of the outbreak.
The apocalyptic zombie series will air six episodes this year and another 15 in its second season next year.
Fear premiered in New Zealand last night on Sky TV's Soho channel and it also streams on Neon and Quickflix.
