Boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. has offered a reward in a bid to track down the driver involved in a hit-and-run crash which killed a well-known celebrity jeweller in New York.

Aron 'Eric' Aranbayev, a co-owner of diamond merchants Rafaello & Co, died on Monday after he was hit by a car close to his home in Queens on Sunday night.

During his career, he worked with stars including reality TV regular Khloe Kardashian, rappers Jay Z and Sean 'Diddy' Combs, and sportsman Mayweather Jr., who has now contributed US$10,000 to a reward fund for information about the incident.

His contribution takes the total reward to US$50,000

The news comes after Alicia Keys' musician husband Swizz Beatz added a tribute to Aranbayev on Instagram, sharing a collage of pictures of the jeweller with his celebrity clients and adding in a caption, "I would like to send my condolences to (Aranbayev) and his entire family... This loss is super sad! Eric was the good guy everyone loved... RIP Eric Rafaello..."
