Josh Greenberg, the co-creator of now-defunct music streaming service Grooveshark, was found dead over the weekend, aged 28.
Greenberg's body was discovered in his bed by his girlfriend Abby Mayer at their shared home in Florida on Sunday evening.
His mother Lori tells the Gainesville Sun the medical examiner found no explanation for a cause of death from the autopsy, and toxicology reports will take two to three months.
Local police said there was "no evidence of foul play or suicide".
Greenberg founded Grooveshark in 2006 with Sam Tarantino. They were forced to shut down the service in May as part of the court settlement of an US$11 billion copyright infringement lawsuit.
