Harmony Korine has revealed details about his follow-up to Spring Breakers - it is to be a violent revenge thriller starring Benicio Del Toro and Idris Elba.
The Trap will also star Robert Pattinson, Al Pacino and James Franco, according to reports.
In an interview with comedian and podcaster Marc Maron, Korine promises "a complete sensory bombardment" with the "super propulsive, pretty highly violent revenge movie".
Set in Miami, The Trap will follow a crew of vengeful ex-cons led by Benicio del Toro as they target a gangster rapper, played by Idris Elba.
It's set for a 2017 release and reunites Korine with cinematographer Benoît Debie, the frequent Gaspar Noe collaborator who gave Spring Breakers its distinctive visual style.
Spring Breakers recently topped Rolling Stone's 25 Best Modern Exploitation Movies list, ahead of the likes of Battle Royale, Django Unchained, Hobo with a Shotgun, The Human Centipede and The Raid.
The accompanying write-up stated "Korine pulled out all of the stops with this bonkers sun-and-fun romp: bikini-clad teens, drugs, sex, squirt guns, shotguns, male gun-shaft fellatio, EDM, GTA, jail, revenge, "Scarface on repeat", Florida, James Franco in cornrows and the greatest Britney Spears-scored balaclava-clad musical interlude ever.
"The fact that it pushed the envelope with starring roles by two would-be-squeaky-clean Disney starlets, Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens, made the film's sexist/feminist duality all the more enthralling."
Earlier this year, Korine celebrated the 20th anniversary of Kids, a controversial film he wrote for director Larry Clark. Korine's other directorial credits include Gummo, Julien Donkey-Boy, Mister Lonely and Trash Humpers.
