Sons of Anarchy spin-off on the way

Sons of Anarchy ran from 2008 - 2014

Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter is developing a new spin-off series centred on another California motorcycle club.

The acclaimed crime drama ended its seven-season run last year, and now Sutter is set to return to the world of biker gangs, in a show set in the Oakland motorcycle scene.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the programme will feature members of the Mayans, a Hispanic group which battled the club led by Charlie Hunnam's character throughout the entirety of the hit series.

In Sons of Anarchy, the Mayans were involved with prostitution and led a heroin ring.

Sutter is slated to executive produce the as-yet-untitled programme. He is currently working on his upcoming medieval drama The Bastard Executioner, which also stars his wife and former Sons of Anarchy actress, Katey Sagal.
