William Shatner has created a piece of art in tribute to his late Star Trek castmate Leonard Nimoy using pictures of fans to make up a special portrait of the actor.

The actor, who played Captain James T Kirk in the sci-fi franchise, asked devotees to send him images of themselves showing off the 'Vulcan salute' hand gesture made famous by Nimoy as Mr Spock, and he pooled them into a collage which recreates a picture of his friend in character.
