Dwayne Johnson has never seen the point in moaning.

The actor, also known as The Rock, started off as a professional wrestler and can now be seen in flicks including the Fast & Furious franchise and the upcoming Baywatch movie.

It took him many years to get to where he is today and even when things got tough along the way, the 43-year-old didn't wallow in self-pity.

"I worked very hard for my success," he explained to the German edition of Men's Health magazine.

"There were days when I had barely a penny to my name and I didn't know how I could go on. I learnt that there's no point in moaning or letting fate decide. Instead, you need to give everything, whether that's your training, your job or private stressful situations. Whatever it is, don't give up! My mantra is: there's no such thing as perfect, just better than yesterday."

Dwayne makes sure he also passes his positive attitude on to his fans. Through social media he keeps them updated on his personal life, recently posting a cute picture of his new dogs on Instagram, telling a funny story of how he had to save one from drowning in his pool.

"I can stay close to my fans via social media, using photos and videos of my training," he smiled.

"I want to show people how I live. I want to motivate them to lead an active, healthy life. When I get positive feedback, it shows I am doing the right thing and helping others."
