HBO wins big at Creative Arts Emmy Awards

Game of Thrones helped US network HBO win big at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards on the weekend, bagging eight honours during the ceremony.

HBO won 29 awards in total at the ceremony in Los Angeles, which is a precursor to the upcoming Primetime Emmy Awards.

The network's TV movie Bessie, based on the life of US blues singer Bessie Smith, won four awards, including Outstanding TV Movie.

American Horror Story: Freak Show, starring Kathy Bates, took five trophies, while the Saturday Night Live 40th Anniversary Special won four, including Outstanding Variety Special.

Joan Cusack won Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy for her recurring role in Shameless, while Bradley Whitford won the actor prize for his guest role in the Amazon series Transparent.

Taylor Swift won the Original Interactive Program for her AMEX Unstaged: Taylor Swift Experience project, which allowed fans to explore the 'Blank Space' music set, while Foo Fighters took home awards for sound mixing and editing in their Sonic Highways series.

The Creative Arts Emmy Awards celebrate the technical and behind-the-scenes efforts in primetime shows, honouring choreographers, hairstylists, editors and CGI artists alongside actors and actresses.
