Pop star Justin Timberlake is heading back to the big screen thanks to Jonathan Demme's footage from the singer's 20/20 Experience World Tour.

Moviemaker Demme is so impressed with what he captured while documenting the final date of the Mirrors hitmaker's tour in Las Vegas earlier this year he tells Entertainment Weekly he has big plans to turn the footage into an independently financed film.

Demme says, "It's very emotional, very exciting. It's a space age music film!"

He goes on to praise Timberlake's talents, adding, "There's tremendous dancing in this piece... He's a funky Fred Astaire!

"He's got an extraordinary band called the Tennessee Kids. Huge horn section, two lead guitars, two drummers, eight dancers, four exquisite background singers. And we caught them on their last performance."

Demme, who has directed movies featuring Talking Heads and Neil Young, says the film is untitled and he plans on seeking a distribution deal upon the project's completion.
